Occupational English Test
The OET (Occupational English Test) is a language assessment test designed for healthcare professionals, which was initially created for countries such as Australia and New Zealand. However, in November 2017, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) began recognising this assessment as valid for registration in the UK.
What is the purpose of OET exam?
OET’s test materials assess listening, reading, speaking and writing skills in a language a healthcare professional will understand. One of the benefits of OET is that it tests your writing skills through a referral letter, not an academic essay.
Who is eligible for OET?
OET has been developed specifically for 12 healthcare professions: Dentistry, Dietetics, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Radiography, Speech Pathology and Veterinary Science.
How long is OET exam?
OET: Reading component (60 minutes)
Part A is done alone and it is 15 minutes. While parts B and C are taken in tandem, you have 45 minutes to complete both (so make sure you monitor the time carefully).
